Frequently Asked Questions
-
If you cancel your cruise 7 or more days prior to your scheduled departure you will receive a full refund. We cannot provide refunds for cruises canceled with less than 7 days notice. We are a small, seasonal business and we only have four months to earn our revenue for the year.
-
Sometimes we need to cancel cruises on Loon at the last minute because of bad weather. We know from experience that it is best to make the "go/no go" decision at the last minute. What was predicted to be a rainy day, can suddenly have a good weather window for a couple hours.
If we cancel any cruise due to bad weather you will be given the choice to either reschedule or receive a full refund, whichever you prefer.
-
Please arrive 15 minutes before departure, so everyone can board, be briefed on safety, and depart on time for the full experience. In courtesy to all who are looking forward to the full duration of the cruise, Loon cannot wait if you’re late, and refunds are not issued.
-
Yes! Bring your favorite beverages and we provide openers, ice, drinkware, etc. You can bring your own snacks or light meals as well and we provide plates, napkins, utensils, knives, cutting boards...everything you need to enjoy dining afloat. And leave the clean-up to us!
-
While we provide life jackets for everyone aboard, only those guests who are twelve years of age and younger are required to wear a life jacket at all times while aboard.
-
Our 2-hour cruises take place in greater Burlington Bay and Shelburne Bay of Lake Champlain, a cruising area of about 21 square miles. If conditions permit we may venture out around historic Juniper Island or other outlying islands. Determining our destinations and course for your private charter depends on a combination of weather, sea conditions, and your desires and interests. And we don’t need to spend the entire cruise “underway” (moving). Sometimes our guests like to enjoy a little time at anchor in a quiet cove.
-
Yes, but with some limits. We do our very best to accommodate your desires and interests, but of course safety is our highest priority so wind, weather, and sea conditions play a major role in determining our destinations and routing. And extended cruises are also available by prior arrangement.
-
Yes! We allow children ages 5 and upon our public "Share the Boat" day cruises. Children ages 1 and up on our public "Share the Boat" Sunset cruises. There is no age restriction on our private cruises. Children's fares are the same as adult fares. NOTE: By State Law children twelve and under must wear a Personal Flotation Device (PFD / life jacket) at all times while on the vessel. (We provide the PFDs) Young children must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian.
-
Well-behaved dogs weighing 50 pounds or less are welcome on our private cruises. We do not allow dogs or other pets on our public "Share the Boat" cruises. We do not allow pets inside the main cabin and they must be kept under the control of their owners at all times. Keep in mind that while some dogs are natural “boat dogs” others may find the experience disquieting and might be happier at home.
-
For insurance reasons we cannot allow swimming off the boat.
